Churros Coated with Cinnamon Sugar

Churros coated with cinnamon sugar

Lets talk about churros! It's crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside and coated with delicious cinnamon sugar. When dipped in some chocolate ganache, this dessert is just heavenly. This is one of our all time favorite recipes, as they are so easy to whip up and oh-so delicious! As soon as I put a plate of churros on the table, it disappears within minutes because EVERYONE loves churros.
So without further ado, lets move on to this amazing recipe. Hope you guys give it a try.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp white sugar
  • 8 tbsp (or 1/2 cup) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup flour
  • 4 large eggs*
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions:
1. Combine the milk, water, 1 tsp sugar and butter in a deep, heavy-bottomed saucepan. Bring this mixture to a boil on medium flame stirring occasionally. Once it starts to boil, remove the saucepan from heat, dump in the flour and combine with a wooden spoon.

2.  Now bring it back to heat and stir until a thin film coats the bottom of the saucepan. Now turn off the heat and pour the mixture into a mixing bowl and beat with an electric mixer on medium speed to cool down the choux dough.
3.  Add in one egg at a time mixing to combine in between. When all the eggs are added in and mixed well you should get a dough that clings on the spoon while dripping slowly, forming a thick ribbon.

4. Now transfer the dough into a piping bag fitted with a 1 inch closed star tip. Mix 1/2 cup sugar and the cinnamon in a shallow bowl and leave aside.

5. Pour frying oil into a deep pot (oil should be about 2 to 3 inches deep) and heat it on medium high heat. Now pipe in about 6 or 7 churros into the pot depending on the size of the pot you are using. Be careful not to overcrowd the pot.

6. Fry the churros until golden brown on both sides. Coat the churros generously with the cinnamon sugar.

7. Dip your churros in some classic chocolate ganache or your favorite dip and enjoy!
